Dhankar monastery is a picturesque monastery that is located in the Spiti valley. It is situated at a height of 3800 meters above sea level. There is a Dhankar Gomba that is about a thousand years old and is connected to the valley through a motorable road.
The old monastery is home to many different complexes and buildings. It has five different halls that include Kanjur and Dukhang. Then there is Lhakhang Gompa that is a famous spot located on the upper side of the monastery. About 150 lamas reside in the Dhankar monastery.
